Job Opening: Junior Flash Designer

Safelight is seeking an ambitious and talented Junior Flash Designer to join a team passionate about creating world-class security training solutions. We pride ourselves in having an industrious and flexible environment with plenty of opportunity to learn and grow. The ideal candidate will have a strong design aesthetic, knowledge of perpetuating brand standards, the ability to aid in the development of a visual language, awareness of usability best practices, demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communications skills and have the ability to work within a cohesive team as well as independently. This position is located in either Boston or Rochester, NY and is open for immediate hire, but we will also consider candidates graduating in 2012.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design new user animations and interactions to improve the quality of our training products
  • Work within current branding guidelines
  • Help develop the Safelight visual language through contributions to our image library
  • Ability to organize and prioritize deadlines
  • Aggressively develop skill sets, staying informed of current and emerging trends & best practices
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

A highly qualified candidate will have many of the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 1-3 years related field experience
  • 1-2 years experience with Flash Animation
  • Experience with brand maintenance and design aesthetic required
  • Portfolio required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of JavaScript or HTML5 a plus
  • Experience with game/simulation development a plus
  • Knowledge of AS3 programming a plus
  • Experience with object-oriented programing a plus
WORK LOCATION

This position would be based in the greater Boston area or Rochester, NY.

The ideal candidate will have experience developing object-oriented ActionScript, Flash animations, demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communications skills and have the ability to work within a cohesive team as well as independently. This position is located in either Boston or Rocheter, NY and is open for immediate hire, but we will also consider candidates graduating in 2012.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and update Flash programs written in ActionScript3 (AS3)
  • Design new user interactions to improve the quality of our training products
  • Aggressively develop skill sets, staying informed of current and emerging trends & best practices
  • Work with our source-control, documentation and code-review procedures
  • Ability to organize and prioritize deadlines
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
